Color and form
Vuillard might say his Woman in a Striped Dress was not beautiful
in and of herself but rather because Picasso painted
Boy Leading a Horse and Gauguin painted his Tahitian mistress
with bold brush strokes.
Just as a man might say his woman is
not so softly feminine until she is lying
against his roughness.
Just as a rose bush exists only attached to
the fence which lends its support,
but does not exist on its own.
Cannot exist on its own.
And sometimes I feel that I do not exist
until your fingers trace my form
to create my form
until you conceptualize me
with swift movements of your tongue
which is only a tongue
when moving across my body.
And I might say that I alone am not,
that I alone cannot be
But rather I exist because
you fill me with your validation.
